The Board of Trustees honored Caitlyn Bowen from Chester E. Jordan Elementary School for heroically performed the Heimlich maneuver on a first-grade student who was choking and in critical need of help. Kudos to Ms. Bowen her heroic actions!

Trustees honored Jacqueline Vargas from Montwood HS and Wilfredo Pumajero from Pebble Hills HS whose artwork will be featured in the 2023-24 TX Art Education Association's Youth Art Month Exhibition. Their artwork will be on display in March at the Bullock Texas State History Museum in Austin.

The Board of Trustees recognized Barbara Chavez from Americas High School for receiving the 2024 QuestBridge National College Match Scholarship. Barbara will attend Emory University this fall, where she will pursue her dream of becoming an attorney. Congratulations!

The Board of Trustees honored #TeamSISD for earning top honors in the 2024 Black History Month Art Contest. The contest celebrated the achievements of African Americans in art, theater, dance, music, and literature. Well done!

The Board of Trustees recognized the Eastlake HS robotics team for advancing and competing at the UIL Robotics state competition – BEST division. Congratulations to these students on their robotics knowledge, innovation, and creativity during the competition!

Trustees honored robotics teams from Capt. Walter E. Clarke MS, Eastlake MS, and Purple Heart Elementary School. These teams will advance to the First Lego League Texas Championship in March after qualifying for the competition at the West TX FLL Challenge at UTEP last month.

Trustees recognized the Sun Ridge Middle School's STEAMERS for winning the Inspire Award at ROBOCOM X. This award honors students who demonstrate their ability to solve problems through programming, coding, and teamwork to successfully build a functioning robot out of Legos.
